Pick up a new to me bass guitar and continue where I left off, or try and start fresh with acoustic guitar. Songs like this have me going to the latter.

Both good options. Whatever you go with, many skills will transfer and help you meld your own style. I’ve been playing a lot of bass the past few months after years of electric guitar, and find myself gravitating towards jazz and classical despite a predominantly metal-based background.

Speaking of which, classical guitar is also a lot of fun. Anything decent on your local craigslist/kijiji/whatever?

Also, don’t discount transcribing guitar pie ces to your bass. It can be a bit tricky, but it’s super rewarding reworking a 6 string peice to a 4 string instrument. And as a rule of thumb a cheap bass will generally sound better than a cheap guitar, which is nice if your sticking to a budget.

“Local Kijiji”

Hahahahaha I drove 45 minutes to the grocery store today and the nearest traffic light is an hour and a half away.

I’ll take a look to see what’s within an hour , or wait for a music store sale to come up with something.

I’ve been playing classical-style guitars on and off for... about 15 years now (damn). In that time I’ve gone from being completely tone deaf and unable to sing at all, to figuring out songs by ear and being able to play and sing at the same time. It’s been consistently enjoyable and rewarding for me. I recommend picking up some kind of acoustic guitar , especially if the singing part appeals to you at all (and even if you only plan to sing when you’re alone, like me).

I’ll have you know I’m a champion when it comes to singing and dancing by myself.
